Movement is everything!
Monday, June 1, 2009
The chant used to be “location, location, location!”, meaning that how you use the display real-estate is the key to winning the UI game. Nowadays, you need to join the “transitions, transitions, transitions!” choir to even get into the game.
Forum Nokia has published a video to inspire and inform the mobile developers and designers about how fluidity + flow equals “fantastic”. The gist of the video is to show how with the emergence of touch UIs, transitions are no longer decorative elements in the UI. The way a UI component or view moves is as much a part of its character as any audio-visual (or tactile) qualities.
As for me, I love the way more UIs are becoming more “quasi-organic”. So I say “yea” for all UI effects that make my mobile more like a window to a parallel universe and less like Lotus Notes!
